Entréchîn qu’tu m’sgorne – s’tu t’en vas m’sgorner –
et faiche laie minne en viyant ma laiduthe,
quand tchi qu’tén amour étha cartchulé
san drein compte, ladgi sa dreine m’suthe;
entréchîn qu’tu m’pâsse en m’dêconnaîssant
sans m’èrgarder d’tan yi ensolilyi,
quand tchi qu’l’amour, chutte mathée en r’tchiyant,
étha dêlachi l’rotchi d’mén affit;
entréchîn chu temps-là, jé m’fique ichîn,
en pliaidgant acouo combein p’tit qué j’vaux,
et, atout ma main à mé, j’sis attînt
si trop longtemps j’t’ai r’tînt – v’là tout man d’faut.
Tu m’fais ferre-pliaie en r’nonchant man pouôrre corps;
té faithe m’aimer s’sait dé t’aimer à tort.
Against that time, if ever that time come,
When I shall see thee frown on my defects,
When as thy love hath cast his utmost sum,
Call’d to that audit by advis’d respects;
Against that time when thou shalt strangely pass,
And scarcely greet me with that sun, thine eye,
When love, converted from the thing it was,
Shall reasons find of settled gravity;
Against that time do I ensconce me here
Within the knowledge of mine own desert,
And this my hand against myself uprear,
To guard the lawful reasons on thy part:
To leave poor me thou hast the strength of laws,
Since why to love I can allege no cause.
