The Jèrriais Teaching Service operates in a large number of primary and secondary schools across Jersey. For more information contact head of service Ben Spink at b.spink@jeron.je
Flagship Primary School
Plat Douet Primary School celebrates linguistic diversity and recognises that multilingualism is related to greater cognitive outcomes. Children in years 2 to 6 receive one 30-minute Jèrriais lesson per week.
Pallions
Children and young people in selected primary and secondary schools have the opportunity to attend weekly clubs during lunchtimes and after school, where they learn Jèrriais through games, art, craft, stories and conversation.
Alentou d’Jèrri
Primary schools are offered the Alentou d’Jèrri (Around Jersey) cross curricular programme where children are taught about Jersey’s history, geography and cultural heritage in lessons where Jèrriais is used throughout.
